Since the blooming of artificial intelligence in products like ChatGPT or Gemini, we have witnessed an increase in the number of AI tools that assist humans. To one point, those tools have become so superior that we all wonder: What’s the future of AI in education? Will AI replace humans? From my point of view, that scenario is hard to happen as long as we humans keep fulfilling ourselves and adapting to the new technologies.

will ai replace human

Why AI Will Not Replace Humans

Lack Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is a special factor that makes humans always play an important role in comparison to other species. As the species with social behavior, a basic and undeniable need of humans is the need for emotional connection with others. AI tries to imitate human intelligence, but emotional intelligence is not as easy to replicate as knowledge. Why? Because it requires empathy and a deep understanding of the human experience, especially pain and suffering. But, AI simply doesn’t feel pain.

No matter how well AI systems are programmed to respond to and assist humans, it is unlikely that a strong emotional connection will develop among machines or between humans and these machines. Therefore, AI cannot replace humans, especially when connecting with others is important for business growth.

Limited in Creativity Due to Dependence on Input Data

Creativity is the foundation of innovation. AI can only operate based on the data it receives. Anything outside that range will be beyond the AI’s ability to handle. So, when new, unprogrammed job data is entered into the machine, AI can become useless. These situations often occur in the technology and manufacturing industries. The idea that AI tools will adapt to any situation is one of the common misconceptions surrounding artificial intelligence.

So if you’re worried AI could infiltrate every profession and eliminate the need for your specialist skills, you can rest assured that won’t happen. Human reasoning and the human brain’s ability to analyze, create, improvise, manipulate and gather information cannot be easily replicated by AI.

When it comes to doing work, AI lacks human creativity, because, as has been established, AI can only work with the data it receives. Therefore, it cannot devise new ways, styles or models of doing work and is limited to certain patterns.

Related to creative thinking is the ability to think outside the box. Machines are designed to “think inside the box”. That means AI tools can only work as required by certain data.

On the other hand, humans can think creatively, source information from a variety of media, and create solutions to complex problems with little or no available data. Because AI does not have the ability to think outside the box and generate creative ideas for innovation, AI cannot take on some human roles at work.

Not Equipped with Soft Skills

Soft skills are a must-have for every employee in the workplace. They include teamwork, critical and creative thinking, effective communication and interpersonal skills, etc. These soft skills are in demand in every industry and each person must develop them to become more professional and successful.

People are taught and required to possess soft skills; Developing them is valuable for everyone, every job position. Company executives need them to thrive, just as employees in any industry need these skills. Therefore, soft skills help humans gain the “upper hand” over AI.

However, soft skills are still unfamiliar to machines with artificial intelligence. AI cannot develop these soft skills that are important for development and growth in the workplace. Developing these skills requires higher levels of reasoning and emotional intelligence.

Created and Controlled by Human

There would be no artificial intelligence without human intelligence. The term artificial intelligence means humans create and develop AI. Input data to operate AI is all input by humans. And people themselves are using AI tools to serve their needs.

As AI technology continues to advance, so do human services. There will be people designing AI processes, creating AI applications, and operating and maintaining them. Only humans can do this. Based on these facts, we can refute the speculation that AI will outperform humans at work.

Undeniably, artificial intelligence applications are really creating value in the workplace and they will replace many jobs that humans do every day. However, the work that needs to be done is often limited to repetitive tasks that require little pressure and reasoning ability. In addition, according to the integrated technology trend of the labor market, the demand for humans will even increase, and workers will have new, separate roles and not be affected by AI.

A report by the World Economic Forum found that while AI will replace about 85 million jobs by 2025, about 97 million jobs will be created in the same year thanks to AI. So the big question is how humans can work with AI instead of being replaced by it. In the current era, it would be difficult, if not impossible, to live without AI – and without humans, there would be no artificial intelligence. Forward-thinking organizations are developing ways to combine human and AI capabilities to achieve higher levels of productivity and innovation.

In Need of Training and Testing Many Times

A big problem with AI chatbots like ChatGPT is that they are often inaccurate and require human moderators to fact-check. AI has the ability to learn very quickly, but it lacks common sense and is simply not capable of reasoning and arguing about facts to the degree that humans can.

What Humans Need to Fulfill to Not Be Replaced by AI

Emotional Intelligence – EQ

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is simply the ability to control and express your emotions, as well as understand and shape the emotions of others. Whether you are communicating with colleagues, service users or private customers, you need to have a certain level of emotional intelligence.

Imagine your manager doesn’t have any EQ. They won’t be able to communicate with you effectively, won’t understand why you have to work remotely for personal reasons, and won’t be able to help you manage stress. Simply because they don’t understand.

It is true that there have been robots developed with artificial intelligence to read emotional signals, but they cannot replace humans, especially in complex situations. Sure, they can register emotions, but building relationships and showing empathy with customers and colleagues is a different story.

Even if there is no EQ requirement at work, your advantage is still much higher than that of a machine. When you interact with colleagues, report directly to leaders, manage subordinates… remember your EQ. Note the typical examples that show that high EQ helps you achieve work efficiency and don’t be afraid to include it in the Skills section of your CV and mention it in your next job interview.

Problems Come with Solutions

Because robots cannot utilize and understand psychology like humans, they will not be able to pose problems and find ways to solve them like product design, advertising, and marketing experts do.

Let’s say you create an ad on Facebook, but people aren’t interacting with it. Can a computer accurately explain the cause and provide a solution? It can come up with some formulas and ad tweaks, but that doesn’t always work. Usually, you have to understand your customer group’s tastes – what’s on their minds.

Creative problem solving can include: resolving conflicts between employees, addressing customer concerns, or even adjusting internal work processes to suit the needs of the majority. .

Think about a few times you’ve had to get creative to solve a problem. Review your decision-making process and how you found a solution. Can machines do that? Sure is not. Keep this skill in mind when updating your CV.

Management Skills

Many companies are using software and artificial intelligence to manage human resources, products, and services. This intervention allows employees to reduce manual tasks and focus on more important tasks.

So, technically, automation has begun to take over many workplaces – but businesses still need humans to oversee it. For example, your accounting or human resources department might use a program to track revenue and expenses. But what happens when that program crashes? When there is a system error? Will the business owner switch to another software or automated process now? No, they need a professional to detect errors, use available skills and experience to repair and check for damage.

To manage employees, computers or simple automation cannot replace humans.

As you advance your career, keep these management needs of your business in mind. Highlighting your experience in managing both technology and people will help employers recognize your value.

Communication

Surely you have seen news about robots communicating with each other, even with humans. But they still cannot completely replace people – both internally within the company and externally with partners and customers.

During the days when you work at home due to social isolation, you must have seen that communicating with colleagues via the messaging system helps operate work, but it is not as effective and fast as direct interaction (or via email). video call). But that’s just internal.

When talking about communication skills, it is also important to pay attention to non-verbal communication skills; These are often as important as your speaking skills.

Simply put: Robots cannot communicate like humans with humans. Again, when you want to advance your career, take the time to hone your soft skills in a variety of contexts – especially, highlight your achievements on your CV.

In Which Possibility AI Will Replace Humans

To Sum Up

It’s a long shot to accurately predict how technology will shape the workforce. Automation has certainly usurped some jobs, but it’s still unlikely to replace humans in certain skills.

So don’t worry too much. First, continue to focus on your work and develop your professional skills. Second, keep the above skills in mind when you update your CV. Third, even if you don’t need a new job right away, keep honing and improving your high-tech skills so you can adapt when needed.
