Last Updated On: July 1, 2021

ActivePresenter 8 offers a wide range of slide transitions that indicates the end of one slide and the beginning of another. You can also control the style and speed of transition effects in one or many slides. Using this feature will make your projects look more appealing and engage viewers better. Let’s see how simple these techniques are in today’s tutorial!

Add Slide Transitions

To apply a slide transition effect, follow these steps:

Step 1: Select the slide that you want to add effect. If you want to add the same transition for multiple slides at once, hold CTRL while clicking to select multiple slides.

Step 2: Open the Transitions tab, and then select one from the gallery.

Step 3: Set more effects for the selected transition by clicking the Effect Options button.

Note

  • Not all the transition effects in the gallery have further options like Cut, Fade, and Reveal. Therefore, you will see the Effect Options button appearing dimmed when selecting one of these three transition effects.

  • Effect Options vary from effect to effect. For example, while the Zoom effect includes In and Out options, the Push effect includes 4 options which are From Bottom, From Left, From Right, and From Top.

Step 4 (Optional): Change the slide effect duration by performing either of the following:

  • Enter a value in the Effect Duration spin box (1) or click the up/down button to increase/decrease value.
  • Drag the blue diamond (3) on the slide bar in the Timeline pane:

The light blue area stretching from the starting point of the slide to the blue diamond indicates the duration of the effect. The longer it is, the slower the effect happens and vice versa.

Change Slide Duration

Normally, a slide will automatically extend its duration to contain objects inside it if the object duration is greater than the slide duration. However, you can change the slide duration if you want by doing any of the following:

  • Drag the end edge of the slide bar in the Timeline pane to the left or right.
  • Enter a value in the Slide Duration box (2).

Auto Advance Option

This option is on by default. With this, the presentation will automatically jump to the next slide when the current slide completes. If you disable this option, use actions to advance slides. Alternatively, you can find the Auto Advance option of a slide in the Properties pane > General tab.

Note: This option is independent of the Pause presentation to wait for user input option.

Add Transition to Slide Master

When you want all your slides to have the same transition effects, you can make those changes in one place – the Slide Master. Perform the following steps:

Step 1: Open Slide Master view. In the View tab, click Slide Master

open slide master view

Step 2: Select the master slide that you want to apply transition effects. Then, take step 2 and step 3 mentioned in the previous part. When you edit the master layout, all slides that are based on that master will contain those changes. To know more about Slide Master, refer to the Using Slide Masters tutorial.

Remove Slide Transitions

If you don’t want to use effects for slides, do either of the following ways:

  • Select a slide, or hold CTRL while clicking if you want to select multiple slides. Then, select None in the Transitions tab.
delete slide transitions
  • Simply drag the blue diamond downward out of the slide bar until the effect bar turns to grey. Then, release the mouse.

That’s all about the slide transition effects I want to share with you today. Instead of boring appearing and disappearing, try to engage viewers with stunning transition effects of slides that ActivePresenter 8 provides. Download the app and start creating your own projects right now!
